2Pet 1:1
Simeon
Some manuscripts Simon
Peter, a servant
Or slave (for the contextual rendering of the Greek word doulos, see Preface)
and apostle of Jesus Christ,

To those who have obtained ca faith of equal standing with ours dby the righteousness of our eGod and Savior Jesus Christ:

 Συμεὼν = Treg NA/NIV RP: || Σιμων = WH
2Pet 1:2
gMay grace and peace be multiplied to you hin the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

2Pet 1:3
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him iwho called us to
Or by
his own glory and excellence,
Or virtue
2Pet 1:4
by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become mpartakers of the divine nature, nhaving escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
δι᾽ ὧν τὰ
 τῷ = WH Treg NA/NIV: || [omit] = RP
2Pet 1:5
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith qwith virtue,
Or excellence; twice in this verse
and virtue swith knowledge,
2Pet 1:6
and knowledge with self-control, and self-control twith steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness,
2Pet 1:7
and godliness uwith brotherly affection, and brotherly affection vwith love.
2Pet 1:8
For if these qualities
Greek  these things; also verses 9, 10, 12
are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or xunfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2Pet 1:9
For whoever lacks these qualities is so nearsighted that he yis blind, having forgotten that he was zcleansed from his former sins.
 ἁμαρτημάτων = Treg: || ἁμαρτιῶν = WH NA/NIV RP
2Pet 1:10
Therefore, brothers,
Or  brothers and sisters. The plural Greek word adelphoi (translated “brothers”) refers to siblings in a family. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to men or to both men and women who are siblings (brothers and sisters) in God’s family, the church
be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and acelection, for if you practice these qualities adyou will never fall.
2Pet 1:11
For in this way there will be richly provided for you aean entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2Pet 1:12
Therefore I intend afalways to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in agthe truth that you have.
Διὸ
2Pet 1:13
I think it right, as long as I am in this aibody,
Greek tent; also verse 14
akto stir you up by way of reminder,
2Pet 1:14
alsince I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, amas our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me.
2Pet 1:15
And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.

2Pet 1:16
For we did not follow ancleverly devised aomyths when we made known to you apthe power and aqcoming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but arwe were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
2Pet 1:17
For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, asThis is my beloved Son,
Or  my Son, my (or the) Beloved
with whom I am well pleased,”
2Pet 1:18
we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on avthe holy mountain.
2Pet 1:19
And axwe have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention ayas to a lamp shining in a dark place, until azthe day badawns and the morning star rises in your hearts,
2Pet 1:20
knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation.
2Pet 1:21
For bbno prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God bcas they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

 ἀπὸ = WH NA/NIV: || ἅγιοι = Treg RP
